We have all heard the phrase... Closing the stable door after the horse has bolted...!
We have all heard the phrase... Closing the stable door after the horse has bolted...!
So why am I mentioning this, firstly let’s consider the difference between Assurance and Insurance:-
Assurance is coverage to offer protection from something that will happen.
Insurance is coverage to offer protection from something that may happen.
So, if you have Cyber Insurance you should feel safe and sound knowing that if a Cyber Attack occurs you have nothing to worry about...?
Right?...Wrong!!!
The sad truth about Cyber Crime is that it is really a matter of time before you fall victim and even if you have Cyber Insurance, the following will still have to happen: -
Log and manage a claim.
Rebuild your systems.
Pay a fee to recover your data from Ransomware (This is never recommended).
Recover (if possible) your data from backups.
Spend a considerable amount of time performing all these tasks to make you and your business operational again.
Even if your claim is approved, you may still have the following to deal with:-
Possible fines and litigation from regulatory bodies.
Loss of reputation.
Loss of customers due to the attack.
Possible fines and litigation from your customers.
So I am sure you can now see even with Cyber Insurance the time, money and effort to get your business back up and running is considerable.
