Always Hop to avoid the Bounce…!

Our Data World…
Our world revolves around data, whether its work, social or a mixture of both our data is everywhere in places that we don't necessarily know, we have become very complacent with how we gather, share and we protect it.
The world of Cyber Crime is continuing to grow, the issues that face us as individuals, employees or business owners are continuously changing, Cyber Criminals constantly update their tactics to allow them to extort information and money from us in more unique ways.
Additionally since the 25th of May 2018 we now also need to consider GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) which as businesses and employees makes us accountable for the data we :-
We have always been accountable, however since the introduction of GDPR we are now formally accountable for all the data that exists within our enterprise and as such we must implement Appropriate Technical & Organisational Measures to ensure data integritiy throughout its lifecycle.
Rabbits Are Happier Hopping…
Like Rabbits we are far better Hopping as neither of us bounce too well, for this reason we would like to introduce a new practice which will help you to improve to GDPR compliance & reduce your Cyber Exposure, this concept is…
H O P
Let Me Explain…
In all aspects of our life we need solid foundations, our house, our business, our family, our relationships and our careers, these foundations allow us to have a more stable future.
The computer devices we use are no different, they need to have solid foundations to be able to protect themselves from possible Cyber Threats & ensure GDPR Compliance…
We have all been annoyed at one time or another when our Laptop/PC has rebooted applying updates, whist we may be annoyed by these updates they are necessary for very important reasons.
Over the lifecycle of any product it is likely to need enhancements to make them more safe and secure, our IT equipment (hardware & software) is no different, manufacturers will produce updates in the shape of software or firmware updates/patches to make them more secure by removing the identified vulnerabilities.
Applying the enhancements is like closing the door and will stop Cyber Criminals being able to utilise the flaw that the patch/update is designed to fix.
Now the fun part, to ensure that you and your business are safe, we recommend you always HOP:-
H – Hardware
O – Operating System
P – Programs
To minimise your exposure you must ensure that updates are applied regularly, by applying these as they are released to all of your devices, you will minimise your exposure to security flaws that could allow Cyber Criminals to compromise you.
A recent example of the cost of not applying patches can be seen in This Article which sadly shows the huge cost to the NHS of not applying a free patch produced by Microsoft to plug the WannaCry vulnerability.
If you don’t follow this simple process you are more likely to suffer a Cyber Attack and be Non-Compliant, this will cause you to BOUNCE something like rabbits we don't want you to do...
So Always Hop to Avoid the Bounce…!
